MA in (Linguistic) Anthropology, University of Virginia and Northern Illinois University

  • Professional experience: After completing my undergraduate degree, I joined the Peace Corps and taught high school English in Bulgaria for two years. Between master's degrees, I received a Fulbright scholarship to teach English at ELTE University in Budapest, Hungary, as well as advise students about studying in the U.S. at the Fulbright Commission's Educational Advising Center there. I have been teaching English to non-native speakers for over 15 years in many different educational contexts.

Professional experience:

Worked at IBM as a negotiator and then decided to switch professions and after becoming certified to teach ESL. I taught at Alamance Community College before coming to the IEP in August 2012.

Continuing Education Instructor of the Year 2012 Award at Alamance Community College.

Special areas of interests, hobbies: biking, hiking, swimming in the ocean, reading, traveling. listening to live music especially indy and the blues.
