Estimated IEP Costs for Summer 2015, Fall 2015, Spring 2016
Program and University fees ($6,136.44) are due by the day of orientation (8/21/15). Paying the fees on time is very important and if a student does not pay on time, they may be dropped from the program. All fees below are subject to change without notice. Actual expenses per semester may be higher or lower depending on the student's lifestyle.
Students applying for IEP-only admission will also be required to pay a one-time application fee of $100.
Health Insurance Coverage
All North Carolina State University students, including IEP students, are required to maintain health/medical insurance throughout their time at the university.
NC State students who are enrolled in classes through the IEP are now eligible for Student Blue from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, for a fee of $802 each semester ($1,604 per year). Students may waive enrollment in (choose not to use) Student Blue if they can prove you have health/medical insurance from another insurance provider. This insurance may be purchased abroad or in the United States, but it must meet the following coverage types and minimum amounts:
- $50,000 minimum per accident or illness
- $500 maximum deductible per policy year
- Coinsurance of at least 80% for in-network services
- $10,000 provision for medical evacuation
- $7,500 maximum for repatriation
If a student wants to waive enrollment in Student Blue, they may want to consider these health/medical insurance providers (see bottom of page). The procedure for waiving Student Blue insurance will be further explained at IEP Orientation.
Please remember that students are required to either enroll in the Student Blue insurance plan through BCBS of North Carolina or waive out of the plan (by showing proof of other acceptable insurance) by September 10, 2014.
If a student is in the United States on an F-1 student visa, they must be a full-time student to keep their legal status with immigration. After registration, if a student withdraws from the IEP for any reason, the student is eligible for a partial fee refund according to the schedule below:
|TIME OF WITHDRAWAL||FEE REFUND|
|1st week of classes||75%|
|2nd week of classes||50%|
|3rd week of classes and thereafter||No refund|
|Please note that the $100 application fee is NOT refundable.|
