Intensive English Program

IEP student workers are NC State students who work for the IEP as student mentors and/or receptionists. They are an excellent resource to all things NC State! Student Mentors attend activities with IEP students.  They also assist with the American Life and University Culture (ALUC) class.

Emily Murr

Emily Murr

Lead Student Mentor
Emily was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is in the Civil Engineering Department at NC State and is currently involved in the Cooperative Education Program with NCSU and Brasfield & Gorrie, General Contractors. She currently works in the Medical Department at Brasfield & Gorrie, but hopes to work on bridge design and construction when she graduates. She has been with IEP since January 2015.
Hesaum Dehghan

Hesaum Kamali Dehghan

Student Mentor
Hesaum grew up in Tehran, Iran and moved to the U.S in his senior year of High School. He studies Mechanical Engineering at NC State and is currently involved in the Cooperative Education Program with Advanced Energy where he works as a lab technician testing electrical motors. He previously interned for an aviation company where he worked on aircraft designs. In his free time, he enjoys working out and cooking.
Maddie White

Maddie White

Maddie was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. She is a senior in Chemical Engineering with a Biomolecular Concentration. She is also minoring in Biology, Microbiology, and Biotechnology. Maddie is a student with the Cooperative Education Program through working at Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies. When she is not studying she loves to spend time cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes, hanging with friends, and swimming. Maddie hopes to either work for a biopharmaceutical company or attend medical school after graduation.

Sue was born in Greensboro, NC. She is a junior majoring in Business Administration with no chosen concentration yet. Sue has been a part of the Global Village for three semesters, and studied abroad at the ESB Business School in Germany last Spring. Following her semester abroad, she volunteered for a non-profit organization in Copenhagen, Denmark for the summer. In her free time, she enjoys getting to know people from all over the world, traveling, and trying new things. Sue hopes to work for an international organization after graduation and one day live abroad!

Jeremy was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is currently studying Mechanical Engineering and has plans to get involved with the Cooperative Education Program beginning in the summer of 2017. He enjoys being involved in intramural sports on campus and loves meeting new people!
Ivan Guerrero

Ivan Guerrero

Receptionist
Ivan Guerrero is one of the Intensive English Program student receptionists. He was born in The Bronx, New York. At the age of seven, he moved to the Dominican Republic and lived there for 11 years. After he graduated high school in Santo Domingo, he decided to move back to the United States in order to pursue his bachelor’s degree. In his free time, he loves to draw, listen to music, and spend time with his two little nephews, M.J, and Cebastian. Ivan has an Associates in Arts from Wake Technical Community College, and he is now attending to North Carolina State University in order to obtain a bachelor’s degree in General Psychology and Pre-Med.

Peter is an International Studies and Accounting Major, born and raised in Kenya. He moved to North Carolina his junior year of high school. One of his main interests and possible future career path is economic and environmental global sustainability. He enjoys being outdoors, a good book and tea. Of all the reasons he loves NC State, its proximity to Downtown is his favorite; he love exploring the downtown area.

Nyssa Thebert

Nyssa is from Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a Zoology major, with minors in Spanish and Biomanufacturing. She enjoys working with animals and people and hopes to eventually get a job doing both! Her favorite activities are hiking, swimming, reading, and singing along to music. She is trying to graduate a semester early if possible so she can get a head start in a great career.
